2023-2024 State Service Project
ND FCCLA Chapters Are Challenged to Raise Money for JDRF!
North Dakota Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) has chosen JDRF as the ND FCCLA State Service Project for the 2023-2024 school year. JDRF is the leading global nonprofit funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. 1.4 million Americans live with T1D, and it is estimated that 64,000 people are diagnosed yearly in the U.S. This organization hits close to home for many ND FCCLA members who are or who have family members or friends living with T1D.
Once called juvenile diabetes, T1D strikes children and adults, and its onset has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. T1D is a chronic autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone people need to get energy from food. They require multiple daily insulin doses through injections or an insulin pump to survive.
JDRF is the world’s largest nonprofit funder of T1D research. They focus on finding a cure; until they do, the advancements they make daily improve the lives of those living with the disease until that day. ND FCCLA chapters are challenged to raise money for JDRF. For more information on JDRF please visit the JDRF website.
ND FCCLA chapters should collect money throughout the 23/24 school year. We’re challenging each chapter to raise at least $150. If 75 chapters raise $150 each, we can donate over $11,000 to JDRF! How should you raise money? Get creative! Some ideas:
- Hold a fundraiser walk/run
- Partner with a local restaurant
- Host an envelope fundraiser
- Hold a Miracle-Minute during a meeting or sporting event
- Host a hat day at school
Donations should be submitted to the ND State FCCLA office by March 31st to be counted towards the ND FCCLA State Service Project total for 23/24. Watch the ND FCCLA social media channels for graphics and posts promoting JDRF and the State Service Project!
